Re: Replacement Ivory

There is a world-wide ban on the movement of *all* ivory
internationally. This applies both to new and antique
ivory, whether or not the ivory is incorporated into
some other object. Presumably this ban applies only
to commercial transactions and does not apply to, say,
a musician traveling from one country to another with
an instrument containing ivory.
A useful source for old ivory is the keyboard of an
old piano (assuming, of course, that the rest of the
piano cannot be saved). Organ restorers use them for
refurbishing work.
